Pablo Picasso – Face with Black Nose 01

Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) was one of the most influential artists of the 20th century, known for his versatility and endlessly experimental approach to art. A pioneer of Cubism, Picasso constantly explored new styles, techniques and materials.

In 1946, he began his celebrated collaboration with ceramicists Suzanne and Georges Ramié at the Madoura workshop in Vallauris on the French Riviera.

Over the following 20 years, Picasso explored clay, glaze and form in playful and unexpected ways, creating around 4,000 ceramic works. From plates and vases to sculptural figures, Picasso brought his painter’s eye to ceramics, combining colour, form and texture in a uniquely expressive way.
